The Mulkies Place
We are Bridget and Michael, also frequently known as the Mulkies.
We enjoy arts and crafts, photography, upcycling and anything else that drives our desire for new artistic challenges.
We live in St George in Bristol and our home backs onto the beautiful St George Park, pictured below.
I completed a BA hon degree in 3D Design here in Bristol, specialising in ceramics. During my early career I then taught physically challenged adults through Art therapy for a number of years. After a move to Scotland I set up and ran my own pottery/arts and craft business, making all my own stock. Returning to Bristol some years later I fulfilled another dream of working with children with many diverse educational and special needs. Since retiring from teaching I have traveled widely and been able to expand my craft skills drawing on these experiences. My latest indulgence is creating Junk Journals. Each one is unique made in a variety of textiles, paper and imagination, allowing me to create bespoke gifts.
Alongside my full time career in the business and IT world I also obtained my City & Guilds qualifications in photography and studied under the tuition of a member of the Royal Photographic Society in Spain. Since retiring I been able to follow my passions in life. I have traveled the world extensively affording me many varied and exciting photographic opportunities. I completed a "Photographic 365" challenge which requires a different photograph to be taken each day - a testing task, but very satisfying and worthwhile, helping to hone my skills and push my imagination. Another of my passions is cycling, again providing many varied opportunities for photographs with the views from my bike. I have recently found a new interest in creative upcyling, creating and repurposing items from reclaimed wood and other used materials in order to give many discarded items a second chance in life.
